The 5th grade "Pathway to Multiliteracy" Award

The Lexington 5th grade "Pathway to Multiliteracy" Award (also known as a “Bilingual Service and Participation Award” in other school districts) recognizes and honors Lexington 5th graders who have demonstrated a commitment to becoming biliterate or multiliterate and have reached a certain degree of proficiency in both English and another language. The "Pathway to Multiliteracy" Award affirms positive attitudes toward multilingualism and values the use of multiple languages for all students.

This program for 5th graders will be the most rigorous and results in special recognition at promotion, which includes a special stamp on the fifth grade promotion certificate. The "Pathway to Multiliteracy Award" lays the foundation for seeking the California high school Seal of Biliteracy.

If you and your child are interested in practicing your home language(s) and receiving the “Pathway to Multiliteracy” recognition, read and fill out this application, and email it to Mr. Deppong or bring in a hard copy to your child’s teacher.
